[BREAKING] Bored Ape Yacht Instagram Reportedly Hacked
At around 6am Pacific, Monday, April the 25th, Bored Ape Yacht Club tweeted that their instagram account was compromised. This is a developing story and we will post more details if there are any updates.
🚨There is no mint going on today. It looks like BAYC Instagram was hacked. Do not mint anything, click links, or link your wallet to anything.— Bored Ape Yacht Club (@BoredApeYC) April 25, 2022
This news comes fresh from the oven and apparently, it has not been the only time one of the BAYC web assets has been compromised.
Just a few weeks ago, it was reported that the BAYC discord has also been hacked.
So far, no high-profile apes have been reported stolen. Typically, when an account is hacked, the hacker will post malicious phishing links such as “free mints” or airdrops which will lead readers to connect their wallets, causing their NFTs and crypto assets to be stolen.
As a general rule of thumb for security, if something sounds too good to be true, always verify with multiple trusted sources.
We will update this news piece if there are any new developments.
